President Ricardo reports that it was all a mistake!  Crusaders welcomed in out of the Cold. Given BBQ

Members of RCPM  Annual Tree Planting Day pictured above were taking part in the Clubs support in freezing conditions in the Broadford area and mistakenly miss-labeled and incarcerated by the tree planters!

President Ricardo Reports:

Our annual, Tree Planting Day in the Glenaroua-Broadford district was once again a great success. RCPM was singled out for a special mention by the organizers, the Rotary Club of Manningham, for consistent help over the years.

This years number of trees planted came in at 4000, somewhat down on the usual 7000+ trees planted on the day. But no complaints from us city – slickers, the temperature was bitterly cold and never rose above 6 degrees, so we were grateful to be finished by 12.30 pm and be off to the warm CFA shed, for a hearty country style BBQ.

It seems that the winter flu and the cold and rain had an effect not only on the number of trees planted , but also on the number of ‘brave fools’ prepared to brave the conditions, the number of volunteers, usually a bit over 100 was down to around 70. Still RCPM was well represented by P.P. Robyn McDonald, Rufus and Vini Pereira and president Ricardo.
