Courtesy of Ricardo we bring you an advance screening of the East Timor Balibo project documentary. This has been put together from recent footage, archives and the movie of the same name. Interesting viewing about 10 minutes. Ricardo will present this at International house next Sunday at the RAWCS forum from 0900 to 1200. A little slow loading but worth the wait.

Here’s what you do
Attend and participate in the D9800 RAWCS Committee International service Seminar
and support Ricardo the Club presentation
Bob Glinderman District RAWCS Chair writes with all the details below:
International Service Seminar
SHARING EXPERIENCES IN INTERNATIONAL SERVICE
The aim, in fact primary purpose, of the D9800 RAWCS Committee is to encourage
and support District 9800 Clubs in their International Service endeavours. In pursuit
of our purpose, we will be conducting a seminar with the aim of providing an
opportunity for the Clubs of our District to share their knowledge of International
Service.
The seminar will be held at International House, 241 Royal Parade, Parkville, on the
11h July with registration commencing at 9:00 am and the seminar being completed
by 12:30 pm.
The seminar will include a presentation by the D9800 RAWCS committee on
opportunities for International Service and the assistance that is available. This
presentation will be followed by participants being provided with the opportunity to
learn of the International Service projects of other Clubs in our District. It is expected
that this will assist in providing the inspiration and knowledge that is so essential to
the development and implementation of successful International Service projects.
It is requested that your members be encouraged to attend this seminar. Members that
do attend will receive the benefit of discussing the practical aspects of mounting
worthwhile International Service projects with Rotarians who have “been there and
done that”. Such discussions are known to not only allay fears and reservations but
also to generate the enthusiasm that is so essential to the success of this work.
The invitation to the seminar is extended to all of your club members but attendance
by you and members with a particular or potential interest in International Service
would benefit most.
We look forward to your personal participation in the seminar and to that of the
members of your Rotary Club.
Yours in Rotary
Bob Glindemann

Our member Ricardo freshly returned from East Timor was the speaker this week. Ricardo, provided with some technical excellence, was able to report on the progress of the projects we have initiated there under Ricardo’s expert guidance.
Our support for a new toilet block at the Balibo marketplace and the the Kindergarten at Atouro, offshore Dili, has made a difference that can be seen in the faces of the Kids. Ricardo did mention a small bride of candy and football which may have helped. You can see Ricardo’s full presentation by clicking here or download a powerpoint presentation here
